I think the super slim came out in 2013, whereas slim version came out 2009. obviously slims were also manufactured after 2009 but I don't know when they stopped manufacturing them. The super slim bluray drive is pretty loud due to the sliding disk tray, but isn't much of a problem when you're playing games with sound on the TV.
